This work was commissioned by Urban Art Projects (UAP) and John Holland Group to stand outside ‘The Glasshouse’ building at Macquarie Square, Sydney.
Around about and in between explores an embodied experience of urban environments, through an installation that encourages playful navigation and the exchange of shifting perspectives. Comprised of multiple slender panels of two-way mirrored glass, the artwork creates expansions and abstractions of the surrounding space and multiplications of the audience’s own reflection. High-contrast patterning alludes to urban semiotics, ranging from way-finding to warning systems. The two-way mirrored glass changes in transparency and opacity throughout the day, in response to the directional light that tracks across the site.
